Cricket fans across the globe are already tingling with excitement about the upcoming 2019. Both the World Cup and the eagerly anticipated return of the IPL – Indian Premier League are coming up in the first half of the year, promising to be rich in sports.
The 12th edition of the IPL will begin on 23rd March and will run through to 12th May, with eight of India’s finest cricket clubs competing in the vastly popular Twenty20 event. The teams will all face each other twice – home and away – during the initial round-robin group stage. In the group stage, each team will play a total of 14 games. The top four teams after the conclusion of the group stages will progress to the playoffs.
The playoffs will consist of a pair of “Qualifier” matches, an “Eliminator” clash and the much-anticipated final. The top two teams will face each other in “Qualifier 1,” with the winner progressing to the final. Those who finish 3rd and 4th will then play in the “Eliminator” for a chance to play in “Qualifier 2,” where they will take on the loser of “Qualifier 1” for a place in the final. On 12th May, the final of the games will take place and the IPL Champion for 2019 will be crowned.

IPL Cricket Exciting Matchups
With the fixtures for the 2019 season yet to be released, the excitement can be felt in the air. Perhaps the most interesting and spoken of a game of the IPL group stage will be the game between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Undoubtedly, this is one of the most promising chances for IPL betting in the group stage, Hyderabad will be looking for revenge after losing to the Super Kings in 2018 final. Only time can tell if the Sunrisers will be able to make amends for last year’s disappointment, or if Chennai will inflict even more misery on their most-feared competitors. Stay tuned – Betrally India will cover every minute of the game for you to bet on!
Ahead of IPL 2019 auction, another star-team stands out, representing the hopes and aspirations of thousands of fans – Mumbai Indians. There were some big questions surrounding the Mumbai Indians following the incredibly disappointing IPL 2018 season, where they missed out on the playoffs.
Many cricket-lovers expect the Indians to perform better this time. The Indians themselves will also hope to make their mark in this year’s season, as they are looking to show the world why they have won the IPL a joint-record three times along with the current champions, the Super Kings. Their long-standing rivalry with heavyweights Chennai Super Kings will be another epic encounter to keep a close eye on. Will Mumbai be able to turn their fortunes around and shine in the face of their fierce competitors? We are soon to find out.
IPL Predictions and Betting Tips
Following the conclusion of the IPL auction in December 2018, all the eight teams have added more firepower to their teams and will be looking to go all guns blazing in IPL 2019, which will begin in March. To provide you with the best information, we ask some of the leaders in cricket betting predictions, for their IPL predictions.
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) – IPL Prediction
In the auction, there was a lot of money spent on some the cricket players, like Varun Chakravarthy for Rs. 8 crores by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). He is a leg-spinner – who showed his class in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), where he picked up nine wickets at 20.88 and an economy rate of just 4.70. Also, in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018 – the 50-over domestic tournament in India – he picked up 22 wickets at 16.68 – finishing as the tournament’s second highest wicket-taker. Sticking to KXIP, they have also invested heavily on Prabhsimran Singh, about to turn 19, this year, largely due to his good show with the Under-19 and the India Emerging team.
Expert Prediction: KXIP have a good selection of players, and the addition of Mohammed Shami, Moises Henriques and Hardus Viljoen too might see them challenge for top honours.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) – IPL Prediction
Tamil Nadu defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) did not have a very high-profile auction. However, after failing to secure the services of Jaydev Unadkat, they shifted their focus on Mohit Sharma, who played under MS Dhoni in the past for CSK. Given the depth in CSK’s squad, it will be a surprise if they do not make it to the playoffs once again this season. CSK have the experience of Suresh Rain, all-rounder Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja. Be it the batsmen or the bowlers, CSK is certainly not short of options. With three titles already under their belt, it will not be surprising to see them clinch their fourth and become the most successful team in the tournament.
Expert Prediction: Betting on CSK will perhaps be the safest option given their consistency in the IPL until now.
Mumbai Indians (MI) – IPL Prediction
When it comes to titles, CSK’s closest rivals are Mumbai Indians (MI). The Mumbai players will have a thing or two to prove after they narrowly failed to make it to the playoffs last season. Under Rohit Sharma’s tutelage, MI has been a force to be considered over the years, including in the upcoming IPL 2019. The acquisition of Quinton de Kock even before the auction was a masterstroke. He will be dangerous at the top either partnering Evin Lewis or the Rohit himself. MI have two of the best death over bowlers in Jasprit Bumrah and Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga, who they brought back into the fold in the auction for their base price of Rs 2 crore. The biggest name to be bought in the auction is superstar Yuvraj Singh.
Expert Prediction: MI have a variety in each department, especially in their all-rounder’s department which consists of Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, his younger Hardik and Aussie Ben Cutting. Undoubtedly, MI will be one of the teams to watch out for this season. Like CSK, betting on MI too will most likely be a safe call, given their illustrious history of titles.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) – IPL Prediction
On the other hand, it might be risky to place your bets on the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who are yet to taste the IPL success. They have come close a couple of times but have failed at the final hurdle. RCB added to their all-rounders, Akshdeep Nath, Shivam Dube (Rs 5 crore) and 16-year-old Prayas Ray Barman for Rs 1.5 crore. RCB also bought West Indies’ hard-hitting batsman Shimron Hetmyer for Rs 4.2 crore, who will add further fire-power to the middle-order, which already consists of the of AB de Villiers. With RCB not buying any opening batsmen this time around, we could see Kohli himself open with Parthiv Patel, who is also a wicketkeeping option. RCB bought another wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen, who is a talented batsman. It was Colin de Grandhomme who was the only fast bowling all-rounder last year, but RCB now have Marcus Stoinis too as an option. Bowling has always been RCB’s issue and they have not invested in it again. Mohammad Siraj, Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal and Co. will have to step up.
Expert Prediction: RCB are an unpredictable team – they might win easily but could also suffer a shattering defeat. RCB could turn out to be a huge blessing for those who prefer the “high-risk, high-reward” betting.
Delhi Capitals (DC) – IPL Prediction
Delhi Daredevils have now changed their name to Delhi Capitals (DC). But will that change their fortunes around? The last time a team with initials ‘DC’ won the IPL title was back in 2009 when Deccan Chargers took the trophy home in South Africa, beating an Anil Kumble-led RCB in the final. What’s more coincidental is that DC finished at the bottom in 2008 before winning the title in 2009. Delhi Capitals finished last in 2018. Can they do a Deccan Chargers this time around? Shreyas Iyer has been confirmed the captain for this season. DC has the talents of Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw and the recently drafted Shikhar Dhawan in the team. With Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada and Trent Boult already in the squad, they do have one formidable unit. The Delhi franchise has not made it to the playoffs since the inaugural season. Only a brave soul will bet on DC.
Expert Prediction: Even with the latest additions, they might once again not pose much of a threat in the 2019 IPL edition and will not be surprising to see them finish at the bottom half of the table once again.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) – IPL Prediction
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were a force to be reckoned with when Gautam Gambhir was at the helm. But Dinesh Karthik in his first season in charge finished third in the IPL 2018 table. KKR stocked up on some of the best Under-19 Indian talents like Shubman Gill, Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti last season. KKR has bought West Indies T20I captain Carlos Brathwaite for Rs 5 crore along with Joe Denly, who recently became the first player to score a century and pick up a hat-trick in the same T20 match. He achieved this feat for Kent against Surrey in July 2018. They already have one of the best all-rounders Andre Russell, mystery spinner Sunil Narine, and wrist spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Piyush Chawla. Anrich Nortje and Lockie Ferguson are the two other express fast bowlers, who have been included. Once again, KKR looks a formidable force and going by the squad, they have the ability to chase down any target and also defend any score in a given day.
Expert Prediction: What will work against them is inexperience among a few players, but as long as a few core players deliver, they should be fine. Finishing in the Top 4 will be a bare minimum for KKR and the odds of winning are better for them.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) – IPL Prediction
Rajasthan Royals (RR) just about made it to the playoffs last season, but with the return of Steven Smith, their batting will further strengthen. Unluckily, with Smith’s latest injury, it is not clear if he will be fit for the beginning of the tournament. RR possess a series of talented all-rounders including Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Stuart Binny, and the recently acquired Ashton Turner and Lancashire’s Liam Livingstone. However, their biggest purchase was that of fast bowler Jaydev Unadkar, who fetched Rs 8.4 crore. RR was captained by Ajinkya Rahane last season and it will be interesting to see if the equation changes when Smith returns. RR has not won the IPL title since the inaugural season in 2018 and given that they have bolstered their squad in the IPL auction, they could very well be in with a chance for victory. Unfortunately, one day they could play extremely well, but the next they look like a mediocre set of players.
Expert Prediction: Betting on them will be very tricky, but the best time to place your bet will be after they have a confirmed set of players.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) – IPL Prediction
With the acquisition of Martin Guptill, Jonny Bairstow and Wriddhiman Saha in the IPL auction, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have managed to add more depth into their already powerful squad. David Warner is set to return this time after he missed IPL 2018 due to a ban. SRH have wonderful players in all departments. The fast bowlers will be led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is one of the best T20 bowlers in the world. He has the likes of Billy Stanlake, Khaleel Ahmed and Sandeep Sharma to support him. The team also has one of the best all-rounders – Shakib Al Hasan, along with Vijay Shankar, Yusuf Pathan and Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi. Rashid Khan has impressed the IPL over the last couple of seasons and will be a key figure if SRH is to go the distance. Although Kane Williamson captained SRH last season to runners up finish, it will be interesting to see if Warner gets his job back.
IPL Betting Odds
All cricket teams seem to be well equipped to take on the challenge the IPL 2019 keeps for them. However, it is always advisable to bet big amounts once the teams finalise on their best XI – once they will be in a much better position to win their matches. Betrally India is providing the best IPL betting odds
Given Dhoni and CSK’s consistency in the tournament, betting on them is recommended by some of the industry experts. CSK have made it to the playoffs in all the seasons and provided that the core members of the team like Dhoni, Raina, Bravo, Faf du Plessis, Jadeja and Mohit are still with the franchise, they are projected to win more matches than they would lose. Beating CSK has never been easy and it is expected to be no different this year.
Teams like DC, KKR and RR will be the most unpredictable groups of this tournament, that`s why the betting on them can bring you amazing profit, the IPL odds are high and the chance of surprise is big!. They have captains who have less experience in leading in the IPL and this might make it difficult for them to marshal their troops and get the best out of their players.
MI and RCB both boast powerful squads, but their records have always varied over the years. In a do or die match, we can expect MI to scrape through like they have done a number of times, but the same cannot be said about RCB. Players other than Kohli and De Villiers have to step up and deliver their best, which has often not been the case. You can bet on “The best player of the tournament” with the best outright IPL betting odds.
The popular Punjabi KXIP will have to start off well, just like they did in IPL 2018, to stand a chance. They might disappoint once again despite making some big money buys for the upcoming season. SRH, on the contrary, made very few buys in the IPL auction, but the thought process behind acquiring them was on the right path, the experts claim. Unlike KXIP, SRH is considered to know how to use their resources.
In cricket, you either rely on pure luck or on an informed decision, based on field research. If you want to gain as much as professional punters, always do your homework and choose your winning bets wisely. So, choose wisely and bet with the best betting odds for IPL in India!
Bet on Which Team Will Win the IPL?
Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are undoubtedly two of the strongest favourites when it comes to IPL betting – both of them bid to become the most successful IPL team of all times with a record fourth title up to grab for both parties. Since 2010, the two have shared six of the nine titles, and the Super Kings may well have won more, had it not been for their two-year suspension in 2016 and 2017.
On the other hand, Hyderabad is challenging contenders and should not be underestimated. Since their first season in 2013, Sunrisers have secured one title and reached the playoffs on four occasions.
Kolkata Knight Riders have also shown impressive consistency over the last three years, reaching the playoffs every year since 2016. The Riders have demonstrated steady progress in the recent seasons, and for a team with two IPL titles to their name, they must be considered a serious pretender to win. Would you cast your bet on them reaching the finals this year?
The Most Looked-at Cricket Players in IPL 2019
Ahead of the new IPL season in 2019 a lot of attention has been drawn to Steve Smith and David Warner, who were both retained by Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Both Smith and Warner are currently serving bans for the part they played in the ball tampering ‘scandal’ when Australia played South Africa earlier this year.
Mumbai Indians have retained their captain, Rohit Sharma, but have released JP Duminy, Pat Cummings and Mustafizur Rahman.
Rajasthan Royals have retained Smith but have released their most expensive buy from the previous auction, Jaydev Unadkat. They have also released D’Arcy Short, Ben Laughlin, and Heinrich Klaasen.
Kolkata Knight Riders have released Mitchell Johnson, Tom Curran, Cameron Delport, and Javon Searles. The Knight Riders also parted with a number of players including Apoorv Wankhede, Vinay Kumar, and Ishank Jaggi.
Delhi Daredevils decided to keep Shreyas Iyer, Prithvi Shaw, and Rishabh Pant. The Daredevils were very busy in the off-season as they also released Gautam Gambhir, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Shami. The New Delhi team has traded Vijay Shankar, Abhishek Sharma, and Shahbaz Nadeem for Shikhar Dhawan from Hyderabad.
Chennai Super Kings have chosen to release Mark Wood, Kshitiz Sharma, and Kanishk Seth while retaining 22 players including all-rounder David Willey.
Royal Challengers Bangalore let go of Brendon McCullum, Corey Anderson, and Chris Woakes. RCB have brought in some fresh air with Australian Marcus Stoinis joining the team. Mandeep Singh and Quinton de Kock have been traded from RCB.
Kings XI Punjab has decided not to keep Yuvraj Singh, as well as eight other players including Aaron Finch. The Punjabi team has retained nine players – Ravichandran Ashwin, Chris Gayle, Lokesh Rahul, Andrew Tye, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman all remaining with the team.
