Thurles Betting Tips: Peter O’Hehir’s Selections for Thursday’s Horse Racing Action

2 min read

Thurles stages its penultimate meeting of the season today.

And Moyhenna, trained and ridden by Denis hogan, is a short-priced nap in the opening Irish Stallion Farms Mares Beginners Chase.

Successful once over hurdles, this grey Westerner mare looks a cut above her rivals, having filled the runner-up berth, although well beaten behind decent Mullins-trained mares Camelia De Cotte and Pravalaguna respectively, in her first two excursions over fences.

Last time, having made most of the running, she was upsides Missy Tata, when she fell at the second last at Fairyhouse.

Moyhenna meets nothing of that calibre and, barring accidents, she should triumph.

Almost two years after finishing second to Fayonagh in the Weatherbys Champion Bumper at Cheltenham, the Mags Mullins-trained Debuchet will be expected to get off the mark over hurdles in the INH Stallion Owners EBF maiden Hurdle.

The 133-rated grey is a seven-race maiden over obstacles and was firmly put in his place by Emily Moon in Naas last time.

But his overall form, including a second to Cheltenham-bound City Island in Galway, entitles him to the vote over Final List and interesting point-to-point winner Walk Away.

And Willie Mullins has double prospects with French import Cash Back in the Maiden Hurdle, and Golden Spread the mount of Patrick Mullins in the bumper.
